OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING CHAPTER 5 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
RELATING TO THE REGULATION AND CONTROL OF THE DESIGN,
CONSTRUCTION, INSTALLATION, QUALITY OF MATERIALS,
AND LOCATION OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND WIRING
METHODS IN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, ADOPTING
BY REFERENCE HERETO THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
CODE, 1990 EDITION OF THE NATIONAL
FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION, AND THE
UNIFORM ADMINISTRATIVE CODE PROVISIONS
FOR THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE,
1990 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL
CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND
SETTING FORTH CERTAIN
AMENDMENTS TO SAID CODE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that Chapter
5 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins be amended as follows:
Section 1. That Section 5-80 is repealed and reenacted to read as
follows:
Section 5-80. Adoption of standards.
Pursuant to the power and authority conferred on the City
Council by Section 31-16-202, C.R.S. , and Article II, Section 7
of the Charter, there is hereby adopted for the protection of the
public health and safety, and for the purpose of regulating the
installation, alteration, repair of electrical systems and wiring
methods in the city, the electrical code of the city, by
reference thereto, the National Electrical Code, 1990 Edition,
published by the National Fire Protection Association, and the
Uniform Administrative Code Provisions for the National
Electrical Code, 1990 Edition, published by the International
Conference of Building Officials, all to have the same force and
effect as if set forth herein in every particular.
Section 2. That Section 5-82 is repealed and reenacted to set out the
following amendments to the Uniform Administrative Code Provisions for the
National Electric Code:
Section 5-82. Amendments to code adopted.
The Uniform Administrative Code Provisions for the National
Electrical Code, 1990 Edition, is hereby amended and changed in
the following respects:
(1) Section 203, Board of Appeals, is amended to read as
follows:
"In order to determine the suitability of alternate
materials and methods of installation and to provide for
reasonable interpretations of this code, and appeal any
decisions of the Building Permits and Inspections Division
Administrator pertaining to the Electrical Code adopted
herein, the Building Review Board as set forth in Section
2-101 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins shall make
such determinations as provided therein. Upon request of
the appellant and under its own authority the Board shall
augment its membership with two (2) licensed and duly
registered master electricians. "
(2) Section 304(a), Permit Fees, is amended to read as follows:
"The fee for each permit shall be based on the value of the
work regulated herein, as set forth in 'Table No.3-A
Building Permit Fees' , of the Building Code of the City of
Fort Collins, except that such fee shall not be less than
fifteen dollars ($15) nor exceed the amount prescribed by
Section 12-23-117, C.R.S. "
Section 3. That Section 5-85 is repealed in its entirety and the
subsequent sections are renumbered accordingly.
Section 4. Effect of Repeal .
The repeal and reenactment of Sections 5-80 and 5-82 and the repeal of
Section 5-85 shall not make lawful any violation of the ordinances hereby
repealed occurring before the effective date hereof, and provided further
that the construction under any building permit heretofore taken out under
the ordinance herein repealed may be continued in conformance with such
repealed ordinance or, if the owner thereof elects, in conformity with the
ordinance herein enacted.

passage on the 5th day of June, A.D. 19 0.
