HomeMy WebLinkAbout071 - 07/07/1992 - AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT TO PURCHASE THE SITE FOR THE FORT COLLINS SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER AND APPROPRIA ORDINANCE NO. 71, 1992 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT TO PURCHASE THE SITE FOR THE FORT COLLINS SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER AND APPROPRIATING PRIOR YEAR RESERVES IN THE GENERAL FUND AND IN THE CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND FOR THE ACQUISITION OF THIS SITE AND FOR SITE DEVELOPMENT COSTS WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins, in Resolution 92-89, has selected the seven (7) acre Raintree property as the preferred site for the new Fort Collins Senior Citizen Center; and WHEREAS, the owner of the Raintree property, the Raintree Associates, has offered to sell the property to the City for the amount of Three Hundred Forty- six Thousand Dollars ($346,000) ; and WHEREAS, the City anticipates incurring development costs for this property in the amount of Eighty-seven Thousand Dollars ($87,000) ; and WHEREAS, Article V, Section 7, of the City Charter authorizes the City Council to provide by ordinance for the payment of any expense from reserves accumulated in prior years, notwithstanding that such reserves were not appropriated for expenditure in the annual appropriation ordinance; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes for the City to acquire the Raintree property for the Fort Collins Senior Citizen Center site for an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Forty-six Thousand Dollars ($346,000) and to pay for the development costs associated with this property in the amount of Eighty-seven Thousand Dollars ($87,000) . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1 . That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement to purchase approximately seven (7) acres of real property ("the Raintree Property") from the Raintree Associates for an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Forty-six Thousand Dollars ($346,000) and to accept the donation of an additional , adjacent parcel of property to be used by the City for open space purposes. Such parcels of property are more particularly described on Exhibit "A, " which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. That there is hereby appropriated from prior year reserves in the Capital Projects Fund for General City capital projects the amount of Three Hundred Forty-two Thousand Dollars ($342,000) to be used for the purchase and acquisition of the Raintree Property. Section 3. That there is hereby appropriated from undesignated prior year reserves in the General Fund the amount of Ninety-one Thousand Dollars ($91,000) to be used for the purchase and acquisition of the Raintree Property and for the development costs necessary to prepare the property for the construction of the new Fort Collins Senior Citizen Center facility.
