HomeMy WebLinkAbout065 - 05/03/1994 - AMENDING CITY CODE REGARDING MINIMUM RIGHT-OF-WAY WIDTHS FOR LOCAL STREETS ORDINANCE NO. 65, 1994 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING SECTION 29-657(f) REGARDING MINIMUM RIGHT-OF-WAY WIDTHS FOR LOCAL STREETS WHEREAS, on July 20, 1993, the City Council adopted Resolution 93-111, identifying affordable housing policy implementation strategies; and WHEREAS, Section 13 of said Resolution 93-111 identified the reduction of right-of-way width standards for local streets as a possible strategy for the creation of more affordable housing; and WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the reduction of the right-of-way width standard for local streets from 54 feet to 48 feet will not be detrimental to the public health, safety or welfare, provided that the actual street width remain at 36 feet, affording continued consistent fire protection capabilities; and WHEREAS, the Council has further determined that the reduction of right-of- way width standards for local streets will benefit the City by increasing the City's taxable property base and by increasing residential development densities and decreasing the "per unit" cost of development; and WHEREAS, the Council has accordingly determined that the minimum right-of- way width for a local street should be reduced from 54 feet to 48 feet. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that Section 29-657(f) of the Code of the City of Fort Collins be amended to read as follows: Sec. 29-657. Streets, alleys and easements.
