HomeMy WebLinkAbout161 - 11/15/1994 - DESIGNATING 131 LINCOLN AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK ORDINANCE NO. 161, 1994 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS DESIGNATING 131 LINCOLN AVENUE AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 14 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 14-2 of the City Code, the City Council has established a public policy encouraging the protection, enhancement and perpetuation of historic landmarks within the City; and WHEREAS, by Resolution dated October 11, 1994, the Landmark Preservation Commission ("Commission") has determined that the building at 131 Lincoln Avenue (known as the Harmony Mill ) has significant historical and architectural importance to the City; and WHEREAS, the Commission has further determined that said structure meets the criteria of a landmark as set forth in Section 14-5 of the Code and is eligible for designation as a local landmark, and has recommended to the City Council that said structure be designated by the City Council as a local landmark; and WHEREAS, the owner of the property has consented to such landmark designation; and WHEREAS, such landmark designation will preserve the property's significance to the community; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the recommendation of the Commission and desires to approve such recommendation and designate said property as a historic landmark. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1 . That the structure located on lands in the City of Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado, described as follows, to wit: Beginning at the most easterly corner of said Block 9; thence along the southeasterly line of said Block 9, south 41°10'51" west, 127.81 feet to the intersection of the southeasterly line of said Block 9 and the center line of Track No. 31 of the Union Pacific Railroad Company as now constructed and operated; thence along said center line of said Track No. 31, north 31030'33" west, 427.54 feet to the beginning of a curve concave southwesterly, having a radius of 436.02 feet; thence northwesterly along said curve through a central angle of 00°15'56", 2.02 feet to a point on the northwesterly prolongation of the northeasterly line of said Block 9; thence along said northwesterly prolongation and along said northeasterly line, south 48049'09" east, 410.10 feet to the True Point of Beginning, County of Larimer, State of Colorado, be, and hereby is, designated as a historic landmark pursuant to Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins. Section 2. That the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings (U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Revised 1983) shall serve as the standards by which alterations, additions and other changes to the structure located upon the above described property shall be reviewed for compliance with Chapter 14, Article III, of the Code of the City of Fort Collins.
