OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE IN THE
TRANSIT SERVICES FUND
FOR THE DIAL-A-RIDE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 14, of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins
(the "Charter") authorizes the City Council to appropriate unanticipated revenues
which are the result of new revenue sources at any time during the year in which
such revenue is received; and
WHEREAS, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) required communities
with a fixed route bus system to provide paratransit services; and
WHEREAS, the City's Dial -A-Ride program has been serving the transportation
needs of ADA eligible persons with disabilities and those sixty years and older;
and
WHEREAS, Dial -A-Ride program ridership has exceeded trip projections,
causing a shortfall in program funding; and
WHEREAS, the City Council passed Resolution 94-158 on September 20, 1994
authorizing the City Manager to establish a Dial-A-Ride fare for persons who are
ADA eligible effective October 1, 1994 at twice the regular fixed route fare; and
WHEREAS, the revenues generated from the aforementioned Dial -A-Ride fares
need to be appropriated within the Transit Services Fund to help cover the
program shortfall ; and
WHEREAS, the projected revenue from the new Dial -A-Ride fares for 1994 are
estimated to be $13,000.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that unanticipated revenue, resulting from the newly created Dial -A-Ride fares
totalling THIRTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($13,000) is hereby appropriated in the
Transit Services Fund to be used for providing services associated with the Dial -
A-Ride program.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered published
this 20th day of September, A.D. 1994, and to be presented for final passage on
the 4th day of October, A.D. 1994.
