HomeMy WebLinkAbout129 - 09/20/1994 - ADOPTING AND DETERMINING THE EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THE DISTRICT PRECINCT MAP FOR THE 1995 REGULAR MUNIC ORDINANCE NO. 129, 1994 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ADOPTING AND DETERMINING THE EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THE DISTRICT-PRECINCT MAP FOR THE 1995 REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION WHEREAS, Article II, Section I(c) of the Charter requires that at least six (6) months before a regular City election, the City shall be divided, by ordinance, into six (6) Districts; and WHEREAS, each District must consist of approximately the same number of registered electors and must represent one (1) contiguous, reasonably compact unit; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to clarify that the District-Precinct Map adopted for the April 4, 1995 regular municipal election shall also be used to determine eligibility for appointment to fill any vacancy in Council office which may occur following the effective date of this ordinance and prior to the adoption of a District-Precinct Map for the next ensuing regular municipal election; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to clarify that the District-Precinct Map adopted for the April 4, 1995 regular municipal election shall also be used for determining residency for voter registration purposes for any special municipal election held following the effective date of this ordinance and prior to the adoption of a District-Precinct Map for the next ensuing regular municipal election, except for any special municipal election held in conjunction with a Consolidated or General Election conducted by Larimer County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the 1995 District-Precinct Map dated September 20, 1994, on file in the office of the, City Clerk, is hereby adopted and shall be in effect for the following purposes: 1) determining eligibility for District Council offices for the April 4, 1995 Regular City Election; 2) determining eligibility for District Council offices for any interim appointments to fill any District Council vacancies which may occur following the effective date of this ordinance, and prior to the adoption of a District-Precinct Map for the 1997 regular municipal election; and 3) determining residency of electors for voting purposes for the April 4, 1995 regular municipal election and for electors any special municipal election conducted after September 30, 19V4, and prior to the adoption of a District-Precinct Map for the 1997 regular municipal election, except for any special municipal election held in conjunction with a Consolidated or General Election conducted by Larimer County.
