HomeMy WebLinkAbout128 - 09/06/1994 - AMENDING CITY CODE TO ESTABLISH AN OFFICE OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES ORDINANCE NO. 128, 1994 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE IV, OF THE CITY CODE TO ESTABLISH AN OFFICE OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES WHEREAS, under Article II, Section 5, of the City Charter, the City Council is empowered to establish, change, consolidate or abolish administrative offices, departments or agencies by ordinance, upon report and recommendation of the City Manager, so long as the administrative functions and public services established by the Charter are not abolished in any such reorganization; and WHEREAS, the transportation needs of the City have historically been addressed by various City departments from several different service areas; and WHEREAS, after consultation with an Organization Task Force previously established by the Council , the City Manager has recommended the formation of a separate Office of Transportation Services, so that the changing transportation needs of the City can be more efficiently and effectively addressed by consolidating the City's transportation services and establishing a single service area to administer such services; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has submitted a report to the City Council explaining this recommendation; and WHEREAS, the City Council agrees with the recommendation of the City Manager. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that Article IV of Chapter 2 of the City Code be, and the same hereby is, amended so as to add a new Division 7, with the subsequent Division renumbered accordingly, which would read in its entirety as follows: DIVISION 7. OFFICE OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES Sec. 2-545. Director; duties. The Office of the Transportation Services shall be, and it is hereby created. The Office of Transportation Services shall be in the charge of a Director who is directly and solely responsible to the City Manager and who shall be responsible for the functions and duties of the Departments of Engineering, Transportation, Streets, Transfort, and such other departments, divisions, offices or persons assigned by the City Manager.
