OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROPRIATING PRIOR YEAR RESERVES
FOR CRITICAL LIBRARY FURNISHINGS
WHEREAS, the existing furnishings in the Fort Collins Public Library ("the
Library") were originally installed in 1976 and are in need of replacement and
repair; and
WHEREAS, the quantity of seating in the Library is insufficient to serve
the current number of Library customers; and
WHEREAS, technology has now advanced to the point where customers can check
out materials without the aid of staff; and
WHEREAS, the replacement and upgrade of various Library furnishings will
allow staff to be more productive and better serve Library customers; and
WHEREAS, the replacement and upgrade of various Library furnishings will
also improve the appearance and comfort of the Library for the customer; and
WHEREAS, staff has determined that $265,405 will fund the critical Library
furnishings replacement and upgrade; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 7, of the Charter authorizes the City Council
to provide by ordinance for payment of any expense from reserves accumulated in
prior years, notwithstanding that such reserves were not appropriated for
expenditure in the annual appropriation ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that there is hereby appropriated for expenditure from prior year reserves in the
General Fund the sum of TWO HUNDRED SIXTY-FIVE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED FIVE DOLLARS
($265,405) to replace and upgrade critical Library furnishings and equipment.
