OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT FOR RECIPROCAL COMPUTER SERVICES WITH
THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Collins is currently in the process of
converting its central computer systems to the Digital Equipment
Corporation VAX series computers; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to establish a
contractual and working relationship with other users of such computers in
order to provide a backup for some of the City's computer processing needs
in the event its data center becomes inaccessible due to fire, structural
deficiencies, physical damage or other conditions dangerous to employees;
and
WHEREAS, the Public Employees Retirement Association ("PERA") , an
instrumentality of the State of Colorado, is a user of Digital Equipment
Corporation VAX series computers similar to the City's; and
WHEREAS, PERA wishes to establish a contractual and working
relationship with the City to provide reciprocal computer processing
services to each other in the event either party's computer systems become
inaccessible; and
WHEREAS, Section 29-1-203, C.R.S. , authorizes the City to cooperate
and contract with other governmental agencies to provide to one another any
function, service or facility lawfully authorized to each of the
cooperating governmental entities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Intergovernmental
Agreement with PERA for the City and PERA to provide one another with
reciprocal computer processing services using their respective Digital
Equipment Corporation VAX series computers in the event either of their
computer systems become inaccessible.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered
published this 7th day of August, A.D. 1990, and to be presented for final
passage on the 21st day of August, A.D. 1990.
