HomeMy WebLinkAbout113 - 10/16/1990 - ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1991 AND LEVYING PROPERTY TAX FOR FISCAL YEAR ORDINANCE NO. 113, 1990 BEING THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1991, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1991, AND LEVYING THE PROPERTY TAX FOR SAID FISCAL YEAR WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5, of the City Charter requires passage of an Annual Appropriation Ordinance not later than the last day of October in each year; and WHEREAS, the Annual Appropriation Ordinance shall be based on the budget, as adopted, and shall specify such sums of money as the Council deems necessary to defray all expenses and liabilities of the City during the ensuing budget year; and WHEREAS, Article V, Section 6, of the City Code requires that the Annual Appropriation Ordinance include the proper levy in mills upon each dollar of the assessed valuation of all taxable property within the City, such levy representing the amount of taxes for City purposes necessary to provide for payment during the ensuing budget year of all properly authorized demands against the City, including interest and principal of general obligation bonds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS: Section 1. Mill Levy A. That for the purposes of providing necessary funds for meeting the appropriations set forth in Section 1 of this Ordinance, there is hereby levied a tax of 8.797 mills upon each dollar of the assessed valuation of all taxable property within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Collins. B. Such levy represents the amount of taxes for City purposes necessary to provide for payment during the ensuing budget year of all properly authorized demands against the City, taking into account all of the revenues and funds to be received by the City. C. The City Clerk shall certify this levy of 8.797 mills to the County Assessor and the Board of County Commissioners of Larimer County, Colorado, in accordance with Article V, Section 6 of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins.
