OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT FOR CLAIMS HANDLING SERVICES
FOR A TERM OF THREE YEARS
WHEREAS, in June of 1990, the City issued a request for proposals for
the performance of claims handling services for liability and worker's
compensation claims; and
WHEREAS, the City received four (4) proposals; and
WHEREAS, the Selection Committee reviewed the proposals, interviewed
all four offerors and selected Crawford and Company as the most qualified
firm offeror this purpose; and
WHEREAS, a service agreement should be executed between the City and
Crawford and Company, in conformance with the City's Citizen's Claims
Procedure adopted July 26, 1989 and Resolution 88-1 of the Council of the
City of Fort Collins establishing a Self-Insurance Program and a
Self-Insurance Fund, adopted January 5, 1988; and
WHEREAS, payment under this service agreement shall be based upon a
per claim fee schedule which is subject to increases of not more than the
preceding year's consumer price index in the second and third years; and
WHEREAS, the total cost during the first year is estimated to be
Forty-nine Thousand Nine Hundred Forty-four and 25/100 Dollars
($49,944.25) ; and
WHEREAS , funds for this expenditure have been budgeted and
appropriated and are available in the City's Self Insurance Fund; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article V, Section 31 of the Charter of the City
of Fort Collins and Section 1-186 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins,
no contract for services or professional services, including all renewals,
shall be for a period longer than two (2) years unless authorized by
ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that an agreement between the City and Crawford and Company for the
performance of claims handling services for liability and workers'
compensation claims for a maximum period of three (3) years, upon the terms
and conditions described above, be, and is, hereby authorized.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered
published this 4th day of September, A.D. 1990, and to be presented for
final passage on the 18th day of September A.D. 1990.
