OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
DESIGNATING PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 69
OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
WHEREAS, a preliminary investigation by the Cultural Resources Board of
the City of Fort Collins indicated that the property known as the Old Post
Office, located at 201 South College Avenue and located on lands described
as follows, to wit:
The East one hundred and sixty feet of the North twenty-two
and one-half feet of Lot twelve (12) in Block one hundred and
twelve (112) and the East one hundred and sixty feet of Lots
thirteen (13) , fourteen (14) , fifteen (15) and sixteen (16) in
Block one hundred and twelve (112) of the City of Fort Collins,
County of Larimer, State of Colorado.
is eligible for designation as a landmark district due to its
architectural , historical and geographic significance to the community; and
WHEREAS, the owner of the property refused to consent to such landmark
designation; and
WHEREAS, due to the significance of the property, the Board proceeded
without the consent of the owner and held a public designation hearing on
September 18, 1985; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said public hearing, the Cultural Resources Board
recommended to the City Council of the City of Fort Collins that the Old .
Post Office be designated as a historic landmark district pursuant to
Chapter 69 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins; and
WHEREAS, such landmark designation will preserve the property's
architectural , historical and geographic significance to the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the recommendation of the
Cultural Resources Board and desires to accept such recommendation and
designate said property as a landmark district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That that certain property known as the Old Post Office,
located at 201 South College Avenue and located on lands described above,
be, and it hereby is, designated as a historic landmark district pursuant
to Chapter 69 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins.
Section 2. That said property shall be known as the Old Post Office.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered
published this 1st day of October, A.D. 1985, and to be presented for final
passage on the 15th day of October, A.D. 1985.
