HomeMy WebLinkAbout080 - 05/19/1987 - ADOPTING THE GENERAL FORM FOR PETITIONS FOR MEASURES SOUGHT TO BE INITIATED OR REFERRED TO THE VOTE ORDINANCE NO. 80, 1987 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS ADOPTING THE GENERAL FORM FOR PETITIONS FOR MEASURES SOUGHT TO BE INITIATED OR REFERRED TO THE VOTE OF THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, AND FOR PETITIONS FOR RECALL OF INCUMBENTS OF ELECTIVE OFFICES WHEREAS, on March 3, 1987, the voters of the City of Fort Collins adopted an amendment to the City Charter relating to the initiative and referendum process; and WHEREAS, on March 3, 1987, the voters of the City of Fort Collins adopted an amendment to the City Charter relating to the process for recall of elected officials; and WHEREAS, the Charter provision adopted by the electors specifies that the City Council shall prescribe by ordinance, upon recommendation of the City Clerk, a general form of petition, which shall contain warnings and notices to signers as necessary, for circulation and filing by petitioners for each measure sought to be initiated or referred to the vote of the electors; and WHEREAS, the Charter provision adopted by the electors specifies that the City Council shall prescribe by ordinance, upon recommendation of the City Clerk, a general form of petition which shall contain warnings and notices to signers as necessary, for circulation and filing by petitioners for recall of elected officials; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has, based on statutory and Constitutional provisions, recommended a general form for petitions for measures sought to be initiated or referred to the vote of the City electors, and for recall , which general form is set forth in a form entitled "Petition for Initiative, Referendum, or Recall ." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1. That the general form of petition for initiative, referendum and recall petitions shall be as set forth in the form entitled "Petition for Initiative, Referendum, or Recall , " which form is available for public inspection and distribution in the office of the City Clerk. Section 2. That the City Clerk be, and hereby is, directed to have a sufficient quantity of petition forms printed for distribution, upon request, to any individual or group that has filed notice of intent with the City Clerk to submit an initiative, referendum or recall petition in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter. Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered published this 5th day of May, A.D. 1987, and to be presented for final passage on the 19th day of May, A.D. 1987. ATTEST.
