HomeMy WebLinkAbout082 - 07/16/1991 - AMENDING CITY CODE RELATING TO MULTI-YEAR CONTRACTS ORDINANCE NO. 82, 1991 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING CHAPTER 8, ARTICLE IV OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS WHEREAS, Article V, Section 31, of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins was amended by the approval of Proposed Charter Amendment No. 4 by the voters of the regular City election held on April 2, 1991; and WHEREAS, the amended Article V, Section 31, of the Charter removes the requirement that any contract for service in excess of two years be approved by ordinance and instead requires the Council to establish by ordinance the term of contracts for service which may be executed by the City without Council approval ; and WHEREAS, the Council desires to implement this Charter amendment through changes to the Code of the City of Fort Collins. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows: Section 1 . That Section 8-186, subparagraph (a) , of the Code of the City of Fort Collins is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 8-186. Multi-year contracts. (a) No contract for services or professional services, including all renewals, shall be made by the city for a period longer than five (5) years, unless authorized by ordinance, which ordinance shall not be passed as an emergency ordinance.
