HomeMy WebLinkAbout024 - 03/05/1991 - APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE IN THE BENEFITS FUND ORDINANCE NO. 24, 1991 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE IN THE BENEFITS FUND WHEREAS, under the 1991 budget, funds were appropriated in each department for medical insurance at the level of $245 per employee per month or a total amount of $2,764,282; and WHEREAS, this total was received and accounted for as revenue by the Benefits Fund under the 1991 budget; and WHEREAS, this revenue was also appropriated in the Benefits Fund for payment of medical claims and related expenses; and WHEREAS, as a result of information collected during 1990, the amount needed to meet expected expenses in the Benefits Fund for medical claims increased from $245 to $285 per employee per month, a total increase of $480,000; and WHEREAS, this increased level of funding was included in the Total Compensation method of analysis and the 1991 Pay Plan, adopted on December 4, 1990, and is available from amounts already appropriated in the Personal Services line of each department; and WHEREAS, this increased level of funding will be received by the Benefits Fund as unanticipated revenue; and WHEREAS, Article V, Section 15, of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins authorizes the City Council to appropriate by ordinance unanticipated revenue received as a result of new revenue sources at any time during the year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, that there is hereby appropriated from unanticipated revenue in the Benefits Fund the sum of FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($480,000) to be expended for medical claims.
