OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING CHAPTER 118 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
PERTAINING TO THE DEFINITION OF "FAMILY"
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins has determined that
the definition of "family" as contained in Section 118-11 of the Code may
be somewhat vague and unclear to the citizens of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is in the best interests
of the City that the definition of "family" as aforesaid, be modified to
better define the intent of the Council ; and
WHEREAS, the Council has further determined that it is in the best
interests of the City that the definition of "family" be defined in such a
manner as to better accommodate the changing nature of Fort Collins
society.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that Section 118-11 of the City of Fort Collins pertaining only to
the definition of "family" be, and it hereby is, repealed and readopted to
provide as follows:
§118-11. Definitions.
FAMILY - An individual living alone or either of the
following groups living together as a single housekeeping unit
and sharing common living, sleeping, cooking and eating
facilities:
A. Any number of persons related by blood, marriage,
adoption, guardianship or other duly authorized custodial
relationship, or
B. Any unrelated group of persons consisting of:
(1) Not more than three (3) persons, or
(2) Not more than two (2) unrelated adults and their
related children, if any.

published this 21st day of October, A.D. 1986, and to be presented for
final passage on the 4th day of November, A.D. 198
