OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
DESIGNATING PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AS HISTORIC LANDMARKS PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 69
OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
WHEREAS, a preliminary investigation by the Cultural Resources Board
of the City of Fort Collins indicated that the property known as the Old
Power Plant and the accompanying Art Deco Fountain, located at 401 North
College Avenue and located on lands described as follows, to wit:
All of that portion of Lot three (3) in the reservation on the
northwest 1/4 of Section 12, Township 7, Range 69-West, lying
North and West of the RIGHT-OF-WAY of the Ft. Collins Development
Railway Company, all being in Larimer County, Colorado, as
recorded in Book 242, Page 411 at the Larimer County, Colorado
Clerk and Recorder's Office.
are eligible for designation as historic landmarks due to their
architectural , historical and geographic significance to the community; and
WHEREAS, the owner of the property has consented to such landmark
designation; and
WHEREAS, due to the significance of the property, the Board proceeded
with the consent of the owner and held a public designation hearing on May
27, 1987; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to said public hearing, the Cultural Resources Board
recommended to the City Council of the City of Fort Collins that the Old
Power Plant and Art Deco Fountain be designated as historic landmarks
pursuant to Chapter 69 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins; and
WHEREAS, such landmark designation will preserve the property's
architectural , historical and geographic significance to the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the recommendation of the
Cultural Resources Board and desires to accept such recommendation and
designate said property as historic landmarks.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That those structures known as the Old Power Plant and Art
Deco Fountain, located at 401 North College Avenue and located on lands
described above, be, and hereby are, designated as historic landmarks
pursuant to Chapter 69 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins.
Section 2. That said property shall be known as the Old Power Plant.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered
published the 18th day of August, A.D. 1987, and to be presented for final
passage on the 1st day of September, A.D. 1987.
