OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR HOUSE RESOLUTION 4509
WHEREAS, legislation (HR 4509) has been introduced in the U S
House of Representatives which would amend the Safe Drinking Water Act
(PL 523) , and
WHEREAS, the proposed legislative amendment would require the Environ-
mental Protection Agency to employ cost-benefit analysis and eliminate the
Agency's power to impose treatment technique requirements except as pro-
vided for in the Act, and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins supports the use
of cost-benefit analysis in the area of water and wastewater treatment in
order to preclude the imposition of unnecessary and costly treatment
standards which are not in the best environmental , physical or fiscal
interest of the citizens of Fort Collins,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS
Section 1 That the City Council lends its full faith and
support to the efforts to pass House Resolution 4509 and any complementary
legislation which serves as similar purpose
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held this
