OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPOINTING TWO COUNCILMEMBERS TO THE
LIBRARY TRUSTEE SELECTION COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, on November 7, 2006,the voters approved a citizen initiative to establish and
fund the Fort Collins Regional Library District("Library District')pursuant to Sections 24-90-101
to 24-90-606 of the Colorado Revised Statutes(the"Library Law"); and
WHEREAS, Section 24-90-108 of the Library Law states that the legislative body of each
governmental unit participating in a library district shall appoint two of its members to a committee
that shall appoint the initial board of trustees, and that thereafter, any such legislative body may
either continue such a committee or delegate to the board of trustees the authority to recommend new
trustees; and
WHEREAS, on November 21, 2006, the City Council passed Resolution 2006-118
establishing the Library District pursuant to the Library Law, and appointing Councilmembers Ben
Manvel and Karen Weitkunat to the committee to appoint the initial board of trustees; and
WHEREAS, on December 18, 2007, the City, County and Library District entered into an
intergovernmental agreement in which the City and County agreed to continue using a committee
of two City Councilmembers and two County Commissioners to select future trustees; and
WHEREAS, Trustee John Knezovich was appointed for an initial term of one year, which
expires on March 7, 2008; and
WHEREAS,the Council wishes to appoint Councilmembers Lisa Poppaw and Ben Manvel
to the committee that will select a new trustee or recommend the reappointment of Trustee
Knezovich, and make future trustee appointments (the"Library Trustee Selection Committee").
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that Councilmembers Lisa Poppaw and Ben Manvel are hereby appointed to represent
the City of Fort Collins on the Library Trustee Selection Committee.
