OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY
FOR A HORSETOOTH RESERVOIR BACKGROUND WATER QUALITY STUDY
WHEREAS, activity in and around Horsetooth Reservoir may be impacting
the quality of the City's raw water supplies; and
WHEREAS, algal growth in Horsetooth Reservoir may impact water
treatment processes; and
WHEREAS, information regarding water quality is essential to
maintaining the quality of the City's water for domestic uses; and
WHEREAS, for the aforesaid reasons, the Council of the City of Fort
Collins has determined that it is in the hest interest of the citizens of
the City that a Horsetooth Reservoir Ba,:Kground Water Quality Study be
conducted; and
WHEREAS, the cost of said study is Eleven Thousand Eight Hundred and
Seventy-five Dollars ($11,875) , and said funds are budgeted and available
in the Water Production Budget of the Water Fund; and
WHEREAS, Article III, Section 16 of the City Charter provides that the
Council may enter into agreements with other governmental bodies for the
performance of cooperative or joint activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter into an
intergovernmental agreement with Colorado State University for the
performance of the Horsetooth Reservoir Background Water Quality Study in
consideration of the payment by the City of a sum not to exceed Eleven
Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy-five Dollars ($11,875) .
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of
Fort Collins held this 18th day of April , A.D. 989.
