OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO STEVE BURKETT FOR
HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY AND THE
ORGANIZATION AS CITY MANAGER
WHEREAS, Steve Burkett was appointed City Manager in 1986 and will serve
in that capacity until the effective date of his resignation on October 21, 1994;
and
WHEREAS, during Mr. Burkett's term of service, the City of Fort Collins
strengthened its standing as a well run, financially stable organization, having
efficiently managed its resources and reduced the City's debt; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Burkett has been instrumental in focusing the organization on
providing personalized, quality community services to its many different citizens
and other customers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Burkett has led the City administration to the forefront of
quality management principles, being nationally recognized as a leader in the
public sector; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Burkett has effectively guided the City administration
through periods of substantial growth and change in the community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Burkett has assumed a significant leadership role not only in
the City organization, but also in the community at large, working with a variety
of advisory groups, community forums, non-profit organizations and other citizen
activities, and serving six years on the United Way Board and as a member of the
Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Burkett served as President of the Colorado City/County
Management Association in 1993 and has served on their Board of Directors since
1990; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Burkett has played an active role in the International City
Management Association, advancing the state of the profession through his work
on committees developing the ongoing management and education of its members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the City expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Steve Burkett for his tireless
service and contributions to the City organization and the Fort Collins community
as City Manager.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Co it of the of Fort
Collins held this 18th day of October, A.D. 1994.
