ORDINANCE NO 1917
AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE COMPILATION, PUBLICATION,
AND DISTRIBUTION OF ARTICLE XX OF THE CONSTITUTION OF
THE STATE OF COLORADO AND THE AMENDMENTS THERETO, AND
THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AND ALL
THE GENERAL ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY CLASSIFIED UNDER
APPROPRIATE HEADS, WITH INDEXES, IN ONE VOLUME
BE IT ORDAINED BY ThE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
Section 1 The City Clerk and the City Attorney are here-
by authorized and directed to prepare aid compile for publication
in book form Article XX of the ConstitItion of the State of
Colorado, with all amendments to said Article, the Charter of
the City of Fort Collins, and to revise, compile, edit and
prepare for publication in said book all the general ordinances
of the City of Fort Collins in force at the time of the com-
pilation, together with a complete index The City Clerk
shall prepare a certificate under the seal of the City to the
effect that the volume contains all the general ordinances of
the City of Fort Collins in force at the date of such certifi-
cate, the City Charter in full and Article XX of the Constitutbon
of the State of Colorado, and all amendments thereto, and that
he has carefully compared the Charter and ordinances with the
original manuscripts on file in his office and that the compila-
tion and revision is complete, true and correct, and this com-
pilation shall be known as the "Code of Fort Collins, Colorado "
Section 3 The ordinances shall be arranged into numbered
chapters and articles, classified under appropriate heads,
collated and so arranged by sections that all the law upon
any subject shall be appropriately placed under the proper
chapter Each numbered section of the ordinances shall have
the number falling to it in the compilation by beginning with
number one for the first section and numbering the sections

consecutively in bold faced type throughout, which said
number shall be the General Code number There shall fol-
low in bold faced type such leading text words of each
section as the reviser shall deem useful, and the number
of the section of the ordinance as originally passed After
a bracket at the end of each section or after the last
section of an ordinance published consecutively there shall
be given the file number of the ordinance and the date of
its passage, amendment or adoption
Section 3 When the work herein provided for is com-
pleted and the City Clerk as above required shall certify
under his hand and the seal of said City of Fort Collins as
to the correctness thereof by comparison with the original
manuscripts in his office, the Charter, ordinances and other
matters contained in said volume so certified shall be `rp ima
facie evidence of the originals in all courts and tribunals
of this State, and the Charter and ordinances and other
matters contained in said volume, when printed as herein
provided, shall be received in evidence in all Courts, or other
places without further proof
Section 4 In all actions for the recovery of any
fines or penalties incurred for a violation of any provision
of the Charter or any ordinance published in said volume, in
addition to the present statutory requirement concerning the
number and section of the ordinance violated, it shall also
state the general Code number in said volume of the section
of the Charter or the ordinance violated together with the
yeax of the compilation of said volume, without stating any-
thing further relating to the nature of the offense charged

Section 5 The Commissioner of Finance and Supplies
is hereby authorized and directed to advertise for sealed
bids for the compilation, revision and publication in
appropriate book form of the Charter and ordinances as herein
provided and su buit the bids so received to the City Council
for approval or rejection, that when said contract shall be
awarded for said revision and publication of the Charter and
ordinances A volumes shall be bound in paper
board covers with leather backs, and
copies in stiff paper covers, and the same held for distri-
bution by the City Clerk under a resolution to be hereafter
adopted by the City Council respecting the same

All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
any of the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed,
and all the laws of the State of Colorado in conflict with
any of the provisions of this ordinance not heretofore adopted
by the City Charter are hereby superseded

I, Ray Baxter, City Clerk of the City of
Fort Collins do hereby certify and declare that the
foregoing ordinance consisting of six (6) sections,
duly proposed and read at length at a meeting of the
City Council held on the 30th day of December 1916,
was duly ordered by Aye and Nay vote to be published in
the Fort Collins Morning Express, a daily newspaper of
the City of Fort Collins in accordance with the provisions
of Section 7 of Article IV of the City Charter, that
thereafter and on, to-wit, the Ltx day of January,
A D 1917, at a regular meeting of the City Council,
said ordinance came before said Council on its final
passage, a period of mere than ten days having elapsed
since the publication as above get forth, and that, said
ordinance was upon second reading adopted as an ordinance,
and thereafter and on, tewit, the 2Ifd day of January,
1917, said ordinance No ;E/ as finally passed and
adopted, was duly published in the Fort Collins Morning
Express, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort
Collins, Colorado
