BEING AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE, ALIFNDTNG SECTION 3 OF
ORDINANCE 110. 19, 1917, RELATING TO THE REGULATION
AND OPERATION OF ALL KINDS OF VEHICLES UPON THE
STREETS AND ALLEYS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LILT TS OF
THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS, AS A:SE!JDED BY NANCE
P10. 1918, PASSED AND ADOPTED DULY 1918,
AP1D ROVIDING FOR RIGHT OF WAY FOR THE CITY FIRE
TRU M OVER ALL TRAFFIC UPON THE STREETS IN THE
EVENT OF FIRE AND THE REGULATION OF STREET CARS
AND RAILWAY TRAFFIC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THF. CITY OF FORT
COLLINS:
Section 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance
To. 19, 1917, relating to the regulation and operation
of all kinds of vehicles upon the streets and alleys
within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Collins ,
as amended by Ordinance No. % , passed and adopted
July V 1918 , be and the same is hereby amended so as
to read as follows:
"Section 3 . No machine or motor propelled
vehicle shall be driven at a greater rate of sped upon
the streets within the corporate limits of the City of
Fort Collins than fifteen miles per hour within the fire
limits of said City and twenty miles per hour upon all
streets outside the fire limits of said City, and not
to exceed fifteen miles per hour in any of the public
parks oJr Grandview cemetery, and upon the alleys not to
exceed twelve miles per hour , excepting in passing from
an alley to a street or from a garage across any alley
crossing or sidewalk, the machine shall be brought to a
full stop at the crossing or sidewalk and the horn sounded
at all times before making such crossing, and any kind of
reckless driving at whatever rate of speed of any kind of

vehicle or animal is hereby prohibited; provided, the city
fire trucks , or machines or vehicles used for fire purposes,
going to a fire , or other emergency, and any motor vehicle
while carrying a police officer or officers on duty, shall
be exempt from all the provisions of this ordinance and all
ordinances relating to traffic upon the streets; . and fro_
vided further , that the city fire trucks, or machines or
vehicles used for fire purposes, shall have the right of way
over all traffic upon the streets in the event of fire and
all kinds of vehicles shall immediately proceed to the curb
at the right hand side of the street to avoid collision
with the fire trucks, or machines or vehicles used for such
purpose, and all traffic on street cars and railwav trains
thruout to city shall cea e operations

and all rail-
way trains, where occupying street crossin s, shall imme-
diately break trains to permit passage of :ta fire trucks "
Section 2. All ordinances and parts of
ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby re-
pealed; but said repeal shall not in any manner affect any
cause or causes of action which may have accrued under said
ordinances in favor of the City of Fort Coillns prior to
the Lakin.), effect of said repeal and shall be prosecuted
as tho no repeal had been made.
Section 3. In the opinion of the City Coun-
cil an emergency exists for the preservation of the public
health, peace and safety , and this ordinance shw_l take ef-
fect upon its passage and publication, under and by virtue
of the authority contained in Sections o and 7 of Article IV
of the City Charter .

I , A. J. ROSENOW, City Clerk of the City of
Fort Collins, do hereby certify and declare that the fore-
going ordinance, consisting of three (3) sections, was duly
proposed and read at length at a regular meeting of the City
Council held on MW 20th day of August , 1921 , and was duly
adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Courier ,
a daily newspaper and the official newspaper of the City of
Fort Collinsi by the unanimous vote of all members of the
Council , as an emergency ordinance, in accordance with the
provisions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article I of the City
Charter; and thereafter, on towit : the 2-14 day of August ,
A.D . 1921, said Ordinance No. /L? , 19u1, was duly publish-
ed in the Fort Collins Courier , a daily newspaper published
in the City of Fort Collins, Colorado.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereu -o set my
