BEING Al 111IRGENCY ORDIEANCE 236, EPZEITLED "SAPID
TRAPS," OF PART XXIV OF Ti1E BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLIITS, COLORADO .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS :
Section 1. That Section 236, entitled: "Sand Traps, " of
Part XXIV of the Building Code of the City of Fort Collins be and
the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 236. SAPID TRAPS.
Sand traps for public garages or other places
where cars are regularly washed or drained, as a commercial business,
within the City of _port Collins, shall be of cement rings, or' other
approved type , twenty-four inches in diameter and forty-eight inches
deep, same to have quarter bend with seal not less than ten inches.
There shall be two of such traps , the first cne, where the water or
other residue enters, shall have an accessible strainer cover. The
second trap shall be located approximately ten feet down the line
from the first trap and shall have a tight cover which shall be
sealed by the City Building Inspector . Only one trap with the
accessible strainer cover will be required for barns, workshops
or private garages. Outlbts to all sand traps shall be extra
heavy cast iron quarter bends and not less than four inches in
diameter .
The owner or occupant of all buildings using
traps in public garages or other places where cars are regularly
washed or drained as a commercial business shall promptly remove
t' erefrom all accumulations of dirt , sand and debris which collects
in the traps and such dirt , sand and debris shall not be forced
into the sewer , and shall notify the City Building Inspectcr when
an inspection of the sealed trap is necessary, and no owner or
occupant of a building shall open or attempt to open or in any way
tamper with the seal of the City on the second trap.
Floor drains must be of a "P" or "Sn trap pattern
with back water valve when placed in basement. , and strairar attached.
Any and all persons vi81Ating any of the previsions
of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon
ccnvietion shall be fined in a sum not less than Five Dollars and
not more than Twenty-five Dollars. "
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. In the opinion of the City Council an emergency
exists for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety,
and this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication
under and by virtue of the authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of
Article IV of the City Charter.

of the City of Fort Collins , by the una.nimcus vote of all members of
the Council, as an emergency ordinance, in accordance with the
provisions of Sections 6 and 9 of Article IV of the City Charter ; and
thereafter on to-wit : the day of June , A. D. 1928, said Ordinance
No . /3 was published in the Fort Collins Express-Courier , a daily
newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins , Colorado .
