WITHIN THE CORPORATE LMITS OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS.
=BVIS, The Supervisor of the Colorado Forest has invoked the -Al
and co-operation of the City Council of the City of Fort Collins in the
matter of the regulation of the sale and disposition of fir, pine, spruce
and cedar trees, commonly called Christmas trees, in order to prevent
the indiscriminate cutting, wanton waste and destruction of trees from
the public and forest lends andprivate lards, without aut:.ority w
ermission, under reasonable regulations from public officials in charge
of the -forest lands, and also the ommers of private lands, therefore
BE IT OF.DAINED BY T= CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLI<TS:
Section 1. Public and 'private sale of fir, pine, spruce and cedar
trees, commonly called Christmas trees, 'Athin the corporate limits of
the City of Fort Collins shall be subject to the following conditions
and regulations:
(a) The sale of each and every fir, _,ine, spruce and cedar
tree, commonly --celled Christmas trees, shall be acco:rpanied by a tag or
certificate atte.ched therato shoving the place from uiieh the tree was
taken, end under what permission - whother r:.blic official or private
owner; date of taking and the address of the owner of the lands from
which taken.
(M) The use of sidewalks, streets and alleys for keeping stocks
of pine, fir, sjsruce and cadez trees for sale daring the holiday season
is prohibited except for making deliveries to purchasers. This ordinance
is not intended to prohibit t-a keeping and sale of the fore -ping named
trees during the holiday season by resident merchants having places for
keeping and --aintaining stock of trees for such gnrpose, subject to these
regulations " to permits and sales with tags or certificates.
(c) Persons desiring to keep and sell pine, fir, spruce and
cedar trees under the conditions and regulations rrovided in this
ordinance within the corporate limits of the Oity of Fort Collins may
be allotted space in the central market provided by the City at
under permit issued, withoat charge, by the Co=nissioner of Works, and
subject to such regulations as he may make respecting the use of the space
allotted and the maintaining of the same
Section 2 Any person or persons violating any of the provision
of this ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in a sum not less than
Five Dollars nor more than One Hundred Dollars, and tests of suit
Section 3 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency
exists for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety, and
this ordinance wall take effect upon its passage and publication under
and by virtue of the aut'iority contaired in Sections 6 and 7 of Article
IV of the Citv Charter
Introduced, read at length and adopted by the unanimous vote of
all the members of the City Council this 2rd day of December, A D 1922
