JMENDING SECTION 4 OF ORDINANCE NO. 6, 1904,
RELATING TO THE GRANTING OF�FRANCHISE FOR THE ERECTION
AND OPERATION OF GAS WORKS.
WHEREAS, Section 4 of Ordinance No. 6, 1904 relating
to the granting of a franchise for the erection and oper-
ation of gas works provides that the grantee of said fran-
chise many and shall charge not to exceed one dollar and
fifty cents ($1.50) per one thousand cubic feet of gas
consumed for light and one dollar ($1.00) per one thousand
cubic feet of gas consumed for fuel or power purposes and
WHEREAS, The Poudre Valley Gas Co. successor in inter-
est of the grantee of the franchise under said Ordinance
No. 6 has ap-lied to the City Council for permission to
change and increase its schedule of rates for gas and where-
as, said application together with said schedule of rates
and a statnent of the earnings and operating expenses of
said company for the months of January and February, 1918
were duly referred to a committee by the City Council for
investigation and report as to the reasonableness or unrea-
sonableness of the proposed increase in rates for gas and
WHEREAS, said committee did on the 3d day of April,
1918 duly report to the City Council as follows :
"Your committee on the investigation of the reasonable-
nesa or unreasonableness of the rates of the Poudre Valley
Gas Co. beg to report as follows:
We find upon examination of the company' s books
that owing to the increased cost of labor, sup-lies
and material the ccmpany is at the present time oper-
ating at aloss.
The books will shoes that operating under normal
conditions they have been able to pay less than 1%

dividenl per year on the average during the past twelve
years and have never paid any interest on their
capital investment . It would, therefore, seem to your
committee that they are justified in changing their
rates to the amount given in their schedule of rates
filed with the Public Utilities Commission, " and there-
upon said report was duly adopted bythe City Council and an
order entered prcvidin6 for the submission of an amendment
to the original franchise ordinance adopting the proposed
schedule of rates for said gas company.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDA QED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF FORT CCLLI7S.
Section 1 . That in consideration of the premises,
Section 4 of Ordinance No. 6, 19C4, relating to the granting
of a franchise for the erection and operation of gas works
be amended so as to read as follows :
l' Section 4. The Poudre Valley Gas Co. , successor in
interest of the grantee;under said Ordinance No. 6, may
and shall charge not to exceed the following rates for gas
consumed within the City of Fort Collins and may enforce
the regulations prescribed herein, and the following rates :
First 10 M cubic feet of consumption per month, $1.25
net or $1.35 gross per M cubic feet .
Next 10 M cubic feet of consumption per month, $1 . 15
net per M cubic feet .
Next 10 M cubic feet of consumption per month, $1.05
net per M cubic feet .
For all consumption during
the month in excess of 30
M cubic feet, $0.90 net per M cubic feet .
Minimum Monthly Guarantee .
5-light meters, 40.50 net or $C . 60 gross per month
per meter .
10-light meters, 0.75 net or "0.85 gross per month
per meter.

20-light meters or larger, w1 .0 net or Z.1 .10 gross
per month per meter .
Prompt Payment Discount :
Bills will be rend"red of the gross rate of �L.35 per
,I. cubic fact for the first 10 1 cubic feat, or
for t o minimum and discounted tc the net rate,
if paid within 1.0 days from the data thereof. No
discount given on prepayment meters. ))
Section 2. The Poudre Valley Gus Company as the successor
in interest of t'Oe grantee undar ss,id Ordinance No. 6,
shall within five dwys after t`:e final rassµge and public-
ativn of this ordinance ,file its .tritten acceptance of t .e
provisions of this ordinance with the City Clerk, and the
said company shall at the close of the fiscal year, 1918,
and at the Close of each fiscal year thereafter, file with
the City Clerk a sworn statement of the gross receipts
derived each year from the operation of said gas works as
a basis for computing the franchise tax due the city each
year.

reading adopted as an ordinance, and thereafter and on,

No. as finally passed and adopted was duly published
in The Fort Collins Express, a daily newspaper published in
the said City of Fort Collins, Colorado.
