EEIYG AN ENPRGJTCY ORDINANCE RELATING TO TH3 IOCPTIO.T AND COZ°' RUCTION OF
CESSPOOLS.
BE IT ORDAIITD BY TP-T CITY COUNCIL OF TIC' CITY OF ibRT COLLINS:
Section 1. No cesspool shall be constructed within the City of Fort
Collins until a permit shall be securid from the Building Inspector of the
City of Fort Collins for the construction of the same, for which permit the
applicant shall pay the Sum of Fifty (500) Cents.
Seetioxi 2. The Building Inspector of the City of Fort Collins shall
locate the cesspool on the prvnia-s, designate its depth and the size of the
same.
Section 3. All cesspools shall be constructed of brick, tile, cement,
stone or other suitable material to be approved by the Building Inspector, and
the style and design of the same shall be as directed by the Building Inspector
of the City of Fort Collins. Septic tanks may be used in lieu of cesspools if
approved by the Building Inspector, m d not in conflict with any rule or order
of t're State Board of Health of the State of Colorado.
Section 4. No cesspool nor septic tank shall be used by any
inhabitant of the City of Fort Collins after the territory in w ich a cesspool
or septic tank is located shall have becoT.e a part of a sanitary sever district.
Section 5. Neither cesspools nor septic tanks shall be installed
or used within the City limits in any sanitary sewer district.
Section 6. Whenever a cesspool or septic tank shall cease to be used
it will be the duty of the owner or user thereof to forthwith thoroughly clean
if required by the City Building I--spsetor

and fill the excavation with earth.
Section 7. Any person or persons who shall violate any of the pro-
visions of this ordinance or fail to conply with any regulation of the Board of
Realth or orders of the Health Officer or Building Inspector made thereunder

respecting compliance with the provisions of this ordinance shall upon conviction
be fined An any sum not exceeding One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars, and the costs of
suit.
E Section 8. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with
this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 9. In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for
the preservation of the public health, peace and safety and this ordinance shall
6 take effiet upon its passage and publication, under and by virtue of the
IfC authority contained in Sections 6 and 7 of Article TV of the City Charter.
Introduced, read at length and adopted by the unanimous vote of all
nemb3rs of the City Co- ncil this 22nd day of August, A. D. 1925.
