HomeMy WebLinkAbout004 - 01/23/1958 - RELATING TO PENSIONS FOR FIREMEN AND PROVIDING FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND BY CO ORDINANCE NO 4 , 1958 RELATING TO PENSIONS FOR FIREMEN IN THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AND PROVIDING FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FIRE- MEN'S PENSION FUND BY CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE GENERAL FUND FROM THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AND BY EQUAL CON- TRIBUTIONS TO BE DEDUCTED FROM THE SALARIES OF ALL FIREMEN EMPLOYED BY THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS WHEREAS the General Assembly of the State of Colorado during its regular session in 1957, has enacted a statute known as House Bill No 226 approved by the Governor of the State of Colorado on April 30, 1957 and designated as an act relating to the creation financing and distribution of the firemen's pension fund and to amend 139-50-4 and 139-50-5, as amended, Colorado Revised Statutes 1953, wherein there is granted to cities in the State of Colorado having less than 50 000 population and having a paid fire department, the power to assess the members of the paid fire department three and one-half percent (3k/) of their monthly salary and to match the moneys derived therefrom by an equal contribution from the city by the appropria- tion of said sum out of the general revenues of the city and WHEREAS the budget of the City of Fort Collins for the year 1958 provides for the making of such payment from the general fund into the fire- men's pension fund BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS Section 1 The Director of Finance of the City of Fort Collins Colorado is hereby authorized and directed to pay from the general fund of the City of Fort Collins into the firemen's pension fund of the City of Fort Collins such sum monthly as shall not exceed three and one-half percent (A7) of the monthly salaries of the total Eire department of the City of Fort Collins provided however that the sum so paid shall be the amount requested to be so paid by the Board of Trustees of the firemen's pension fund Section 2 The members of the fire department of the City of Fort Collins shall, from their respective monthly salaries contribute into the firemen's pension fund of the City of Fort Collins identical percentages monthly of their respective monthly salaries so that the contribution of the fire department as a whole shall match the contribution of the City of Fort Collins as provided for under Section 1 of this ordinance In order to effect such contribution the Director of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to deduct the appropr&ate amounts as are hereinabove described in this Section from the respective monthly salaries of the members of the Fort Collins fire department and to deposit the same in the firemen's pen- sion fund of the City of Fort Collins Section 3 The provisions for pension benefits for the firemen of the City of Fort Collins shall be as are set forth in said House Bill No 226 ' Section 4 The provisions of the within ordinance shall take ef- fect as of January 1, A D 1958 Introduced considered favorably on first reading and ordered pub- lished this 9th dayab January A D 1958 and to be presented for final passage on the 23rd day of January A D 1958 ATTEST 02 Mayor r City Clerk Passed and adopted on fi nal reading this 23rd day of January A D 1958 ATTEST —�� (�j2n,_ap A V- Mayor City Clerk - 2 -
