BEING AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 17, 1936,
AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE REGULATION OF TRAFFIC UPON
PUBLIC STREETS, ALLEYS AND SIDEWALKS OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
Section 1 That Section 7 of Ordinance No. 17, 1936 be amended to
read as follows
"Section 7 No vehicle shall be driven at a greater rate of
speed upon the streets within the corporate limits of the
City than 25 miles per hour within the fire limits of said
City and 30 miles per hour upon all streets outside the fire
limits of said city, provided, however, that no vehicle shall
be driven at a greater rate of speed in any of the public
parks or in Grandview Cemetery or in any alley of the City
than 15 miles per hour, and provided further, jbhat no vehicle
shall be driven at a greater rate of speed than 20 miles per
hour when passing school buildings or school grounds during
school recess or when children are going to or leaving school
during opening and closing hours, nor shall the driver of any
vehicle overtake and pass another vehicle in motion at such
times, and provided further, that no person shall drive a
vehicle on a street or alley at a speed greater than is
reasonable and prudent under the conditions then existing,
and any kind of reckless driving at whatever rate of speed
is prohibited, and provided, further, that no person shall
operate or drive a gasoline or oil transport truck of over
1500 gallon capacity on the streets of the City at a greater
rate of speed than 20 miles per hour, nor park said vehicle
within the fire district of the City "
Section 2 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists
for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety and this ordinance
shall take effect upon its passage under and by virtue of the authority contained
in Sections 6 and 7, of Article IV of the City Charter
Introduce4, read at length, and adopted by the unanimous vote of
all members of the City Council, at a regular meeting held this 10th day
of October, A D 1952

I, MILES F HOUSE, City Clerk of the City of Fort Collins, do hereby
certify and declare that the foregoing Ordinance, consisting of two sections,
was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting of the City Council,
held on the loth day of October, 1952, and was duly adopted and ordered published
in the Fort Collins Coloradoan, a daily newspaper and the official newspaper of
the City of Fort Collins, by the unanimous vote of all members of the City
Council as an emergency ordinance, in accordance with the provisions of Sections
6 and 7, of Article IV of the City Charter, and thereafter and on, to-wit
the 14th day of October, A D 1952, said Ordinance No 11 was duly
published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan, a daily newspaper published in the
City of Fort Collins, Colorado.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal
of said City, this 14th day of October, A. D 1952
