BEING AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 8, 1927, AS AMENDED,
RELATING TO THE USE OF WATER FROM THE CITY WATER WORKS AND REGULATING THE
USE THEREOF, AND FIXING THE SCHEDULE OF CHARGES THEREFOR, AND R,EPEALINQ
ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS HEREOF
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
Section 1 That Paragraph 2 of Section 2 of Ordinance No 8, 1927,
be amended to read as follows
"Section 2 - - - The cost of taps shall be as follows

Section 2 That Paragraph 1 of Section 5 of Ordinance No 8, 1927, be
amended to read as follows
"Section 5 - - - No premise other than commercial or business shall
be entitled to more than one 5/8" tap for each 12,000 square feet of the premise
area, for each additional 10,000 square feet or fraction thereof one 5/811 tap
will be permitted In computing the area of any premise the area of the
parking adjoining the premise from the property line to the nearest street curb
line shall be considered as part of the premise area "
Section 3 That Section 11A of Ordinance No 8, 1927, be amended in
the following particulars, to-wit
By deleting the following words and figures, to-wit seService lots
of 50 feet or less $6 00, additional frontage for the same tap per foot 8 cents "
Substituting therefor the following words and figures, to wit "Service lots
of 12,000 square feet or less $6 00, additional lot area for the same tap
per each 200 square feet 8 cents", and
by deleting the following words, to-wit "When a house or premise
has three or more apartments a meter shall be installed and there shall be
charged the regular meter rates as herein provided", substituting therefor
the following words, to-wit "When a house or a premise has three or more
apartments or the owner or tenant thereof has four or more roomers or boaruers
in such house or premise a meter shall be installed and there shall be charged
the regular meter rates as herein provided "

Section 4 That Section 17/be amended to read as follows
"Section 17 - - - Hose used for the sprinkling of lawns or gardens
will be permitted during the following hours only Prom 5 o'clock A M
until 9 o'clock P M on alternate days, with occupants of premises having

even numbered house numbers having the right to use sprinkling water on even
numbered days and occupants of premises with odd numbered house numbers having
the right to use sprinkling water on odd numbered days, and with the occupants
of all properties having the right to use sprinkling water on the last day of
the month when such month contains thirty-one days Water shall not be used
through hose or pipe without nozzles or sprinklers attached thereto, and this
regulation shall apply to all users of water whether flat or metered service
The setting of sprinklers or nozzles so as to interfere with traffic on
sidewalks is prohibited
Section 5 In the opinion of the City Council an emergency exists for
the preservation of the public health, peace and safety, and this ordinance
shall take effect upon its passage under and by virtue of the authority
contained in Sections 6 and17 of Article IV of the City Charter

Introduced, read at length, and adopted by the unanimous vote of all
members of the City Council, at a regular meeting held this 24th day of July,

hereby certify and declare that the aforesaid Ordinance, consisting of
five sections, was duly proposed and read at length at a regular meeting
of the City Council, held on the 24th day of July, A D 1953, and was
duly adopted and ordered published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan, a daily
newspaper and official newspaper of the City of Fort Collins, by the
unanimous vote of all members of the City Council, as an Emergency Ordinance,
in accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 and 7 of Article IV of the
City Charter, and thereafter and on, to-wit the 28th day of July s
A D 1953, said Ordinance No 10 was duly published in the Fort
Collins Coloradoan, a daily newspaper published in the City of Fort Collins,
Colorado
