AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON IDHO
KEEPS ANY DOG TO PERMIT THE SAME TO RUN AT LARGE
AND PROVIDING FOR THE IMPOUNDING AND DISPOSITION
OF DOGS FOUND RUNNING AT LARGE AND PROVIDING FOR
THE SUBMISSION OF SUCH ORDINANCE AT THE GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAR, APRIL 7,
1959.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
Section 1. Dogs Running at Large It shall be unlawful for any
possessor, owner, or person who keeps any dog to permit the same to run at
large
Section 2 A dog shall be deemed to be running atlarge when off
or away from the premises of the owner, possessor, or keeper thereof, and not
under the control of such owner, possessor, or keeper, or his agent or servant
or a member of his immediate family, either by leash, cord or chain.
Section 3. It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police and all
other police officers to see that a dog found running at large is taken up
and impounded in the Fort Collins Municipal Dog Pound, and such dog maybe
so taken up without the necessity of filing a complaint and shall be impounded
and disposed of in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No 39 ,
1957
Section 4 That this ordinance is hereby submitted to a vote of the
qualified electors of the City of Fort Collins at the General Municipal Elec-
tion to be held in the City of Fort Collins on Tuesday, April 7, 1959,
Section 5 The paper ballots for said municipal election shall car-
ry the following designation, which shall be the submission clause
"For "Against"

(The number of this ordinance being a purely clerical
and iffinisterial matter not determinable until this or-
dinance is passed, shall be filled in by the City Clerk
of the City of Fort Collins, County of Larimer, upon the
final passage hereof )
of the City of Fort Collins and County of Larimer, making it unlawful
for any owner, possessor, or person who keeps any dog to permit the
same to run at large, and providing for the impounding and disposition
of dogs found running at large, such ordinance to be operative and ef-
fective on January 1, 1958

Section 6. Each elector voting at said election and desirous of
voting for or against said referred ordinance shall designate his choice by
placing a cross mark (X) opposite the word or words expressing his choice
Section 7 That if a majority of the qualified electors voting on
said referred ordinance at such election shall vote in favor thereof, the
same shall thereupon take and be in full force and effect, and that unless
a majority of the qualified electors voting thereon at such election shall
vote in favor thereof the same shall be deemed defeated and shall be of no
force or effect
Section 8 The Clerk of the City of Fort Collins, the Election
Commission and such other officials as are charged with duties relating there-
to, shall, before said election, make such publication and give such notices
and make such appointments and do all acts and things in connection with the
submission of said referred ordinance to the qualified electors of the City
of Fort Collins at said election in the manner and form and at the times pre-
scribed by the Charter and Ordinances of the City of Fort Collins.
Section 9 Any and all other city ordinances in conflict with this
ordinance are hereby repealed
Section 10. This ordinance shall be and is hereby described to be
in full force and effect after final passage and approval, and ordered pub-
lished this 21st day of November and to be presented for final passage on
December 19, 1957
