BEING AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 47-9 OF THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AND AMENDING
SECTION 47-10 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
RELATING TO ELECTRICIANS AND ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS
AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SAME

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT j
COLLINS:
Section 1. That Section 47-10B of the Code of the City
of Fort Collins be, and the same hereby is, amended to read
as follows:
"B. No person shall engage in the business of
contracting for the installation of electrical work in
the City without registering as an electrical contractor
with the Building Inspection Department of the City.
In order to register as an electrical contractor, the
person desiring to engage in such business must do the
following
" (1) Be licensed as a master electrician by
the State Electrical Board or have an employee so
licensed. The registration as an electrical contractor
shall be valid only so long as the person registered is
licensed as a master electrician by the State Electrical
Board or employs a person so licensed.
" (2) File with the Building Inspection
Department a good and sufficient corporate surety bond
in the penal sum of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000. )
conditioned that all electrical work installed by said
electrical contractor, or his employees, shall be in
accordance with the requirements of the ordinances of
the City of Fort Collins.
" (3) Submit to the sui19ira Inspector (on a
form to be supplied by him) a list of all employees working
in the City for the electrical contractor. At least monthly
after registration as an electrical contractor, the con-
tractor must advise the Building Inspection Department of
any changes to the list of employees so working for such
contractor All such employees must at all times be
licensed or registered by the State Electrical Board
' (4) Pay a registration fee as provided in
(5) hereunder to the Director of Finance of the City
and obtain a receipt showing payment of such fee.
" (5) The registration fee required for
electrical contractors shall be based upon the number
of licensed or registered electricians working under an
electrical contractor's City registration.
" (a) An annual fee (covering the period
from January 1 through December 31 of any year) of
Ten Dollars ($10.) for each person holding a state
master's or journeyman's license and Five Dollars
($5.) for each registered apprentice shall be
charged.
" (b) Whenever a new employee is reported
on the monthly report of new employees required by
this section, an additional annual fee shall be
due in the amount provided above for such new
employee. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if any
employee for whom an annual fee has been paid in
any year is thereafter employed by another electrical
contractor, no additional fee shall be payable on
account of such employee for that year.
" (c) The annual fee due on account of
each electrician employed under a registration
shall not be prorated but shall be paid in full,
regardless of the portion of the year such electrician
works for the electrical contractor.
" (d) Prior to the passage of this
ordinance, registration and payment of a registration
fee was required by the City for any electrician
working in the City. In 1978, no registration fee
shall be payable on account of any electrician
working under an electrical contractor's City
registration if a registration fee has previously
been paid for 1978 by such electrician. "
Section 2. Section 47-9 of the Code of the City of
Fort Collins be, and the same hereby is, repealed.
