OPDINANCE NO 15 , 1979
BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE
UNIFORM BUILDING CODE INSOFAR AS
IT RELATES TO KITCHEN CEILING HEIGHT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FOPT COLLINS as follows
Section 1 That Section 1307 (a) of the Uniform Building Code, 1976
Edition, be, and it hereby is, amended to read as follows
"§1307 (a) Ceiling Heights Habitable rooms or
areas shall have a ceiling height of not
less than 7 feet 6 inches except as
otherwise permitted in this Section
Other rooms or areas may have a ceiling
height of not less than 7 feet measured
to the lowest projection from the ceiling
EXCEPTION Kitchens may have a ceiling
height of not less than 7 feet measured
to the lowest projection from the ceiling
If any room in a building has a sloping
ceiling, the prescribed ceiling height
for the room is required in only one-half
the area thereof No portion of the room
measuring less than 5 feet from the
finished floor to the finished ceiling
shall be included in any computation of
the minimum area thereof
If any room has a furred ceiling , the
prescribed ceiling height is required in
trio-thirds the area thereof, but in no
case shall the height of the furred
ceiling be less than 7 feet
Section 2 That Section 1407 (a) of the Uniform Building Code, 1976
Edition, be, and it hereby is , amended to read as follows
"§1407 (a) Ceiling Heights Habitable rooms or
areas shall have a ceiling height of not

less than 7 feet 6 inches except as
otherwise permitted in this Section
Other rooms or areas may have a ceiling
height of not less than 7 feet measured
to the lowest project from the ceiling
EXCEPTION Kitchens may have a ceiling
height of not less than 7 feet measured
to the lowest projection from the ceiling
