OPDINANCE NO 124 , 1979
BEING AN ORDINANCE MENDINC SECTION 3302 OF'THE
UNIFORM BUILDING CODE INSOFAR AS IT
RELATES TO REQUIRED EXITS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS as follows
Section 1 That Section 3302 (a) of the Uriform Building Code, 1976
Edition, be, ano the same hereby is, amendea to rear as follows
"§3302 (a) Number of Exits Every building or usable portion
thereof snall have at least one exit, and shall have not
less than two exits where required by Table No 33-A
In all occupancces, floors above the first story having
occupant load of more than ten shall have not less than
two exits
Each mezzanine useo for other than storage purposes, if
greater in area than 2,000 square feet, or if more than
60 feet in any dimension shall have not less than two
stairways to an adjacent floor
For a special requirement for Groups A, E , I , and H
Occupancies, and oper parking garages, see Sections 3315,
3316, 3317, 3318, 3319, and 1109 (g) For stage exits,
see Section 3907
Every story or portion thereof having an occupanct load
of 500 to 999 shall not have less than three exits
Every story or portion thereof, having an occupant load
of 1 ,000 or more shall have not less than four exits
The numDer of exits required from any story of a building
shall be deierrrined uv usire the occupant load of that
story , plus the percentages of occupant load of floorage
which exits through the level under consideration
as follows
1) Fifty percent (50/) of the occupant load in the first
adjacent story above (and the first adjacent story
below, when the story below exits through the level
under consiaeratior)
2) Twenty-tive percent (25%) of the occupant load
in the ,tort' iw wdi atel , OFjond the 'irsu an.1aue9t
story
The i, aximum number of exits requirea for any story
shall be raintained until egress is provided from the
structure (See Section 3311 )
For the purposes of tnis Section , basements or
cellars ana occupied roofs shall oe provided %vith
exits as reouirec, for storage Floors above the
second story, basements anu cellars used for other
than tna service of the building shill not have less
than two exits
EXCEPTIO41
1 ) Except as provided in Table ho 33-A, only one exit
shall be equired rcr a nasenent or cellar of a Croup
K , bivision 3 Occupancy - See Secticrr 14u4 for

Section 1304 may serve as one exit from a basement or
cellar of a Group P, Division I arartment occupancy
