OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
BEING AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING DISCLOSURE
PROVISIONS FOR THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
WHEREAS, in an effort to provide for a more informed public, the City
Council deems it necessary to establish standards relative to the dis-
closure of campaign contributions, and
WHEREAS, §1-45-100 through 1-45-121 C R S , 1973 (as amended) provides
such standards relative to campaign disclosure however, those standards
presently do not apply to those persons seeking office as City Council-
member, and
WHEREAS, §1-45-120 C R S , 1973 (as amended) provides in part that
any home rule municipality may adopt ordinances or Charter provisions
with respect to its local elections which are more stringent than any or
all of the provisions contained in Article 45 of Title I C R S
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that
1 The provisions of the Campaign Reform Act (§1-45-100 through
1-45-121 C R S , 1973, as amended) shall apply to the office of City
Councilmember, regardless of the compensation to be received All persons
seeking election to such office together with those persons acting as G
campaign treasurers shall comply with the provisions set forth in the
Campaign Reform Act, §31-10-1510 C R S , 1973, as amended, and this ordi-
nance
2 Campaign treasurers for Candidates for municipal elections and
campaign treasurers for issues shall file with the City Clerk any campaign
reports or information required to be filed pursuant to this Ordinance, the
Campaign Reform Act, or §31-10-1510 C R S , 1973, as amended
3 In addition to the reports required to be filed pursuant to
§31-10-1510 C R S 1973, and the provisions of the Campaign Reform Act as
adopted in §1 of this ordinance, each candidate and campaign treasurer
shall , before 9 00 a m on the Thursday prior to the date of the election,
file a campaign report, current in all respects, as of 2 days prior to the
filing date which report shall include all required information All other
campaign reports shall be filed with the Clerk before 9 00 a m on the date
due
4 Upon receipt of any campaign report submitted pursuant to this
ordinance, the City Clerk shall make available such report for public
inspection to any person and shall also cause the same to be published in a
newspaper of general circulation in the City of Fort Collins within three
(3) days after the receipt of such report
5 The terms and phrases contained herein shall be deemed to have
the same meaning as ascribed to said terms and phrases in 1-45-103 C R S
1973
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered pub-
