HomeMy WebLinkAbout127 - 09/19/1989 - AMENDING THE CITY CODE ALLOCATING THE LODGING TAX FOR SPECIFIC USES ORDINANCE NO. 127, 1989 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AMENDING SECTION 25-244 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY ALLOCATING THE LODGING TAX FOR SPECIFIC USES WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 32, 1987, the Council of the City of Fort Collins provided that revenues received by the City from the lodging tax be allocated 70% for the promotion of convention and visitor activities; 20% for cultural development and programming activities; and 10% for maintenance, mitigation and improvement expenses; and WHEREAS, the Council has now determined that revenues from the lodging tax should be reallocated, with 75% of the tax being utilized for the promotion of convention and visitor activities and 25% of the tax being utilized for cultural development and programming activities; and WHEREAS, the Council has further determined that said allocation should be established as a part of the City Code under Section 25-244 thereof. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that Section 25-244 of the Code is hereby repealed and reenacted to read as follows: Sec. 25-244. Use of tax. (a) The lodging tax shall be used by the city in accordance with the allocation as set forth in subparagraph (b) hereof for the purpose of acquiring facilities and promoting tourism, conventions and other activities which utilize public accommodations within the city. (b) Seventy-five (75) percent of the revenue received by the City from lodging tax shall be utilized for the promotion of convention and visitor activities and twenty-five (25) percent of the revenue from the lodging tax shall be utilized for cultural development and programming activities.
