OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 112 OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS RELATING
TO RATES FOR THE WATER AND SEWER UTILITY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 . That Section 112-52 of the Code of the City of Fort
Collins be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
112-52. Flat rates for unmetered water use.
The following flat rates shall be charged on a monthly basis for
the use of water from the water utility when the use is not
metered:
A. For each family living unit, eight dollars and ninety-five
cents ($8.95) ; and
B. For each lot an additional seven dollars and seventy cents
($7.70) ; and
C. For each lot having an area over nine thousand (9,000) square
feet, an additional fifteen cents ($0.15) per one hundred
(100) square feet in excess of nine thousand (9,000) square
feet ; or

ving an area under six thousand (6 ,000)
square feet , a deduction of fifteen cents ( $0.15) per
one hundred (100) square feet under six thousand (6,000)
square feet .
E. The rate to be charged for each flat rate use shall be
the sum of the amounts determined pursuant to the applicable
portions of Subsections A through D above, except that no
flat rate user shall be charged less than the monthly minimum
charge per family unit, which minimum charge shall be ten
dollars and forty cents ($10.40) .
Section 2. That Section 112-55A of the Code of the City of Fort
Collins be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
112-55. Metered rate schedules.
A. Schedule A: Inside City Metered Rates .
1. Minimum charge. The monthly minimum charge for all
metered users shall be as follows:
(a) Residential customers: eight dollars and ninety-
five cents ($8.95) for the first dwelling unit and
five dollars and thirty-nine cents ($5.39) for each
additional dwelling unit.
(b) Non-residential customers:

2. The minimum charge determined pursuant to Subsection
A (1) above will entitle any non-residential user to
two thousand (2,000) gallons of water per month without
additional charge and will entitle any residential
customer to two thousand (2,000) gallons of water per
month times the number of dwelling units served. The
charge to be made for all water taken through the meter
after the allowance for the minimum charge shall be
charged for at the rate of seventy-four cents ($0.74) per
one thousand (1,000) gallons.
Section 3. That Section 112-64A of the Code of the City of Fort
Collins be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
112-64. Schedule f water plant investment
e o p v ment fees and tap charges.
A. The water plant investment fee prescribed in Section 112-61
of this Article shall be charged to users both in and out of
the City, whether metered or flat rate, as follows:
1 . For single-family and two-family residential structures
without commonly owned areas. A fee of three hundred
dollars ($300.00) for single-family residential struc-
tures and six hundred dollars ($600.00) for two-family
residential structures, plus twenty-two cents ($0.22) for
each square foot of lot area, will be charged for an
initial three-fourths-inch water tap. For each addi-
tional tap to serve the premises, or for taps larger than
three-fourths-inch , the non-residential rate shall
apply.

2. For separately owned single-family residential structures
in developments with commonly owned areas. For each
residential structure a base fee of one thousand six
hundred dollars ($1600.00) will be charged. For struc-
tures on separately owned lots in excess of four thousand
(4,000) square feet, a fee will be added of twenty-two
cents ($0.22) for each such additional square foot. Such
fees will provide for one (1) tap per residential struc-
ture and an adequate number of additional taps to serve
common irrigable areas . Approval of the number and size
shall be granted pursuant to City policy.
3 . For residential structures of two (2) living units or
more in developments with commonly owned areas and all
other residential structures of three (3) or more living
units . For each residential structure a base fee of one
thousand six hundred dollars ($1600 .00) , plus four
hundred dollars ($400.00) for each living unit in the
structure will be charged. Such fees will provide for
one (1) tap per residential structure and an adequate
number of additional taps to serve common irrigable
areas, if any. Approval of the number and size shall be
granted pursuant to City policy.
4. For service to hotels , roaming houses , sororities ,
fraternities , mobile home parks and other similar
uses. The non-residential rate shall apply.
5 . For non-residential service.
(a) Service to all non-residential taps, including but
not limited to taps for commercial and industrial
service, shall be charged according to the size of
the tap at the water main (exclusive of demand for
fire protection) pursuant to the following schedule:

(b) All taps in excess of four (4) inches shall be
charged a fee negotiated by the Director of the
Water and Sewer Utilities.

Section 4. That Section 112-77D of the Code of the City of Fort
Collins be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:

Section 5. The amendments recited herein shall become effective
on all billings rendered on or after January 1, 1985, relating to services
provided during the month of December, 1984, and thereafter.
