OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING SECTION 2-203 OF TIIE CODE OF THE CITY
TO ADD A NEW FUNCTION OF THE CULTURAL RESOURCES BOARD
WHEREAS,the functions of the Cultural Resources Board of the City(the "Board")are set
forth in Section 2-203 of the Code of the City; and
WHEREAS,over the course of time the Board has become aware of the potential community
benefits of Board efforts to assist in the development of opportunities for cooperation with other
community organizations, groups, and individuals, in the promotion of awareness, understanding,
and appreciation of cultural resources in Fort Collins; and
WHEREAS, the functions of the Board as currently listed in the Code do not include the
aforementioned role; and
WHEREAS, at its meeting on October 22, 1998, the Board considered a proposal to add a
provision to Section 2-203 for a Board role in developing opportunities for cooperative efforts to
promote cultural awareness,and approved a recommendation that the Council amend Section 2-203
accordingly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that Section 2-203 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins is hereby amended to read as
follows:
See. 2-203. Functions.
The board shall act as an advisory board and shall have the following functions:
(1) To advise and make recommendations to the Museum Director and the City
Council for their approval as to rules, regulations,policies, administrative
and budgetary matters pertaining to the Fort Collins Museum;
(2) To advise and make recommendations to the director of Cultural Services
and Facilities and the City Council for their approval as to rules,
regulations,policies,administrative and budgetary matters pertaining to the
Lincoln Center and any other cultural facility constructed by the city;
(3) To review proposals for funding from the Cultural Development and
Programming Account,following established and published guidelines,and
to submit recommendations regarding such proposals to the City Council
to be approved by the Council by resolution;
(4) To advise and make recommendations to the City Manager regarding any
proposed revisions to the guidelines used by the Cultural Resources Board
to make the funding recommendations referred to in subparagraph (3)
above;
(5) To assist, advise and make recommendations to the Director of Cultural
Services and Facilities and the City Council in cooperating on community
projects with other civic organizations and with individuals interested in the
city's cultural programs and facilities, in order to promote awareness and
understanding of,and appreciation for,the value of cultural resources in the
community.
