OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE IN THE
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES FUND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT THE INTERSECTIONS OF MULBERRY AND
MELDRUM AND US 287 AND COUNTY ROAD 32
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 14, of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins (the "Charter")
authorizes the City Council to appropriate unanticipated revenues which are the result of new
revenue sources at any time during the year in which such revenue is received; and
WHEREAS,the City Council passed Resolution 96-53,on May 7, 1996,authorizing the City
to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the Colorado State Department of Transportation
(CDOT)for the receipt of federal STU funds to provide for the construction of traffic signals at the
intersections of Mulberry and Meldrum, and US 287 and County Road 32 (the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, the Project's estimated total cost is $100,000; and
WHEREAS, the CDOT has made available to the City STU funds in the total amount of
$95,000 for construction of the Project: and
WHEREAS, local matching funds needed for the project, totaling $5,000, are appropriated
and available in the 1996 Transportation Services Fund budget; and
WHEREAS,Article V, Section 14 of the Charter authorizes the City Council to transfer by
ordinance any unexpended appropriated amounts or portion thereof from one fund to another upon
the recommendation of the City Manager, provided that the purpose for which the transferred funds
are to be expended remains unchanged or the purpose for which the funds were originally
appropriated no longer exists; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council to appropriate the sum of$95,000 in federal STU
funds and authorize the transfer of $5,000 in local matching funds in order to proceed with the
Project.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That there is hereby appropriated for expenditure from unanticipated revenue
in the Transportation Services Fund,the sum of NINETY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($95,000)
from the Colorado Department of Transportation to be used for the Traffic Signals Project at the
Intersections of Mulberry and Meldrum and US 287 and County Road 32.
Section 2. That the unexpended appropriated amount of FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($5,000) is hereby authorized for transfer from operating and maintenance dollars in the
Transportation Services Fund to the Traffic Signals Project at the Intersections of Mulberry and
Meldrum and US 287 and County Road 32 in the same fund.
