OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROPRIATING PRIOR YEAR RESERVES IN THE GENERAL FUND
FOR POLICE SERVICES EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS,the current Fort Collins Police Services Dispatch Center consoles are over ten
years old and difficult to repair; and
WHEREAS, the current Dispatch Center consoles are unable to handle the new E911
telephones and Computer Aided Dispatch wireless caller location mapping; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to replace the current consoles to ensure effective radio
communication for Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services; and
WHEREAS, new consoles will also enable the Dispatch Center to expand the number of
dispatch positions and improve the work area's ergonomics; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the General Fund Equipment Reserves for Police
Services; and
WHEREAS,Article V, Section 9,of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins permits the City
Council to appropriate by ordinance at any time during the fiscal year such funds for expenditure as
may be available from reserves accumulated in prior years,notwithstanding that such reserves were
not previously appropriated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS that there is hereby appropriated for expenditure from General Fund prior year reserves
the sum of FOUR HUNDRED TWENTY THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($420,500),
for the purchase of Fort Collins Police Services Dispatch Center consoles.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered published this 19th day of
November, A.D. 2002, and to be presented for final passage on the 17th day of December, A.D.
