OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
APPROPRIATING UNANTICIPATED REVENUE AND PRIOR YEAR RESERVES
IN THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE RADON PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City has been awarded a grant in the amount of $40,000 from the
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Radiation Control Division; and
WHEREAS, the City also received revenue in 1997 in the amount of$5,215 from the sale
of radon test kits which is now in prior year reserves; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to continue the City's radon education, testing, and
mitigation programs; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 9, of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins permits the
City Council to make supplemental appropriations by ordinance at any time during the fiscal year,
provided that the total amount of such supplemental appropriations, in combination with all
previous appropriations for that fiscal year, do not exceed the then current estimate of actual and
anticipated revenues to be received during the fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 9, of the Charter of the City of Fort Collins also permits
the City Council to appropriate by ordinance at any time during the fiscal year such funds for
expenditure as may be available from reserves accumulated in prior years, nothwithstanding that
such reserves were not previously appropriated; and
WHEREAS, City staff has determined that the appropriation of the unanticipated grant
revenue from the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice referenced herein will not cause total
appropriations to exceed the current estimate of actual and anticipated revenues for fiscal year
1998.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1. That there is hereby appropriated from unanticipated grant revenue in the
General Fund the sum of FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($40,000) for expenditure, upon
receipt, in the General Fund for radon education, testing, and mitigation programs.
Section 2. That there is hereby appropriated from prior year reserves in the General
Fund the sum of FIVE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN DOLLARS ($5,215.00)
for expenditure in the General Fund for radon education, testing, and mitigation programs.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered published this 6th day of
January, A.D. 1998, and to be presented for final passage on the 17th day of February, A.D.
1998.
