OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING THE CODE OF THE CITY BY REPEALING THE
ADOPTION BY REFERENCE OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE UNIFORM
BUILDING CODE, 1988 EDITION, AND BY THE ADOPTION BY
REFERENCE OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE,
1991 EDITION
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins ("the Council " ) has
determined that there is a growing risk of hazardous materials in Fort Collins;
and
WHEREAS, the Council has further determined that the Uniform Building Code,
1991 Edition, contains more comprehensive provisions addressing building
construction standards as they relate to hazardous materials than do the
provisions of the 1988 Edition; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that, in the protection of the public
health, safety and welfare, the Uniform Building Code should be amended by the
deletion therefrom of Chapter 9 of the 1988 Edition and by the insertion therein
of Chapter 9 of the 1991 Edition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that Chapter 5-26 of the Code of the City of Fort Collins is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Sec. 5-26. Adoption of standards.
Pursuant to the power and authority conferred upon the City
Council by Section 31-16-201 et seq. , C.R.S. , there is hereby
adopted by reference as the building code of the city, the Uniform
Building Code, 1988 Edition (except Chapter 9 thereof) , and Chapter
9 of the Uniform Building Code, 1991 Edition, published by the
International Conference of Building Officials, together with the
Uniform Building Code Standards, 1988 Edition, as if set forth in
full herein. The subject matter of the codes adopted herein
includes comprehensive provisions and standards regulating the
erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving,
removal , conversion, demolition, occupancy, equipment, use, height,
area and maintenance of buildings and structures for the purpose of
protecting the public health, safety and general welfare.
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered published
this 6th day of August, A.D. 1991, and to be presented for final passage on the
20th day of August, A.D. 1991 .
