OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS RELATING
TO THE SENIOR ADVISORY BOARD
WHEREAS, on July 3, 1990, the City Council adopted Resolution 90-100
establishing a policy for the elimination of alternate positions on boards and
commissions; and
WHEREAS, Resolution 90-100 provides that the Council liaison assigned to
each board or commission which currently has alternate positions shall make a
recommendation for changes in the composition of the board or commission to which
he or she is assigned, in order to achieve the eventual elimination of alternate
positions; and
WHEREAS, the Council liaison to the Senior Advisory Board is recommending
that the two (2) alternate positions on the Senior Advisory Board be converted
to regular positions, thereby changing the composition of the Board from nine
(9) regular members and two (2) alternate members to eleven (11) regular members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that Section 2-397(a) and (b) of the Code relating to the Senior Advisory Board
be amended to read as follows:
Sec. 2-397. Membership; term.
(a) The board shall consist of eleven (11) members . Nine (9)
members shall be appointed by the City Council to serve terms of
four (4) years without compensation, and two (2) members shall be
appointed by the Senior Center Board of the City Parks and
Recreation Department to serve terms of two (2) years without
compensation.
(b) Appointments shall specify the term of office of each
individual in order to achieve overlapping tenure. All members
shall be subject to removal by the City Council . If a vacancy
occurs on the board, it shall be filled by the City Council for the
remaining unexpired portion of the term. No member appointed by
the City Council shall serve more than two (2) consecutive four (4)
year terms.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the effective date of this ordinance shall be
July 1 , 1991 .
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered published
this 21st day of May, A.D. 1991, and to be presented for final passage on the
4th day of June, A.D. 1991 .
