OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
ESTABLISHING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE
NAMING OF ALL NEW ARTERIAL AND COLLECTOR STREETS
WHEREAS, recent land development in the City of Fort Collins will
require the naming of currently unnamed arterial and collector streets;
and
WHEREAS, City staff members have recommended that these unnamed
streets be named to give honor posthumously to prominent Fort Collins
citizens; and
WHEREAS, City staff members and local historians have compiled a list
of names to be used in the designation of new arterial and collector
streets; and
WHEREAS, said list will be extended only by action of City Council ;
and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to require all developers to use the City' s
list of names when designating arterial and collector streets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT
COLLINS as follows:
Section 1 . That the Code of the City of Fort Collins be amended to
include the addition of Article XVI to Chapter 95 as follows:
ARTICLE XVI
STREET NAMING
§95-98. Street naming requirements.
All new arterial and collector streets as defined in the
City of Fort Collins Master Street Plan are to be named
from the List of Street Names approved by the Council of
the City of Fort Collins. This list is a collection of
names of citizens that the City would like to honor
posthumously. The list is comprised of citizens who
have devoted much time and effort to the City of Fort
Collins either as a former Councilmember, a former
CSU Facultymember or a former City employee. Several
citizens who were important in the founding of the City
are also included. In general , these individuals
represent distinguished citizens of the community that
City Council has deemed appropriate to recognize.
The list is adopted by Council and names can be added
only by a resolution of Council . Developers must choose
the names for their unnamed arterials and collec-
tors from the List of Street Names . The Community
Development Department will maintain the List of Street
names and delete names as they are used.
1985.Section 2. The effective date of this ordinance shall be February 15,
Introduced, considered favorably on first reading, and ordered pub-
lished this 15th day of January, A.D. 1985, and to be presented for final
passage on the 5th day of February A.D. 1985.
