HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-143-12/17/2024-APPROVING THE DESIGN, CREATION AND INSTALLATION OF PUBLIC ART AT THE 1-25 AND PROSPECT INTERCHANGERESOLUTION 2024-143 00 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS APPROVING THE DESIGN, CREATION AND INSTALLATION OF PUBLIC ART AT THE 1-25 AND PROSPECT INTERCHANGE A. The City has selected Stephen Shachtman to design, create and install eighteen stylized tree sculptures at the 1-25 and Prospect interchange (the "Sculptures"). The Sculptures will be crafted from Corten weathering steel and will over time develop a rich warm orange-brown patina. B.The total cost of designing, creating and installing the Sculptures is $64,500. The funds for this item have been appropriated in the Art in Public Places ("APP") Reserve Account. The APP program also has available appropriated maintenance funds for the long-term care of the Sculptures and the rest of the APP art collection. C.Section 23-308 of the City Code requires the APP Board to make recommendations to the City Council concerning the use of funds in excess of $30,000 for the acquisition, installation and maintenance of works of art. At its September 18, 2024, meeting, the APP Board recommended acquiring and installing the Sculptures. In light of the foregoing recitals, which the Council hereby makes and adopts as determinations and findings, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS that the City Council hereby approves of the Sculptures project described herein, the conceptual design of which was reviewed and approved by the Art in Public Places Board at its September 18, 2024, meeting.
