The Larimer County assessor's office lists you as the owner of the above referenced adciress.
This letter is to inform you that we have received complaints regarding a new light fixture which was
installed on a side door of the garage at the referenced address. The complaint states that the light
fixture was installed without a permit and does not meet dark sky compliance per section R331.2 of the
Fort Collins amended IRC code. After an investigation it was found that the complaint was factual and
that the light on the side af the garage was installed without a permit and does not meet the
requirements of R331.2, as such this puts you in violation of the 2021 International Residential Code (IRC}
as adopted by the City of Fort Collins.
2021 IRC Sections:
R105.1 Required. Any owner or owner's autharized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair,
move, demalish or change the accupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter,
repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the instailation of
which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be performed, shall first make application to
the building official and obtain the required permit.
R331.2 Exterior lighting. All exterior lighting fixtures shall be down direcrional and fully shielded luminaires
and shall have a nominal correlated color temperature (CCT) of no greater than 3000 Kelvin.
This notice allows you 30 days from the date of this letter to remove the exterior light in question. Please
notify me within 30 days of the date af this fetter to verify that this issue has been carrected.
Failure to comply with this notice af violation is grounds for the City of Fort Collins to issue you a citation
ta appear in court and fines up to 3,000.00 dollars per day from the date of the violation.
