Re: Notice of Public School Location for AXIS International Academy, a Colorado non-profit corporation and
charter public school (“AXIS”) – Real Property located at 2700 S. Lemay Ave., Fort Collins, Colorado
80525 (the “Premises”), which is a part of the real property owned by Clearwater Church, Tax Parcel
#8730212901 (the “Property”).
Ladies and Gentlemen:
The undersigned represents AXIS. This letter is being sent at the request of AXIS, a charter public school
authorized through the Charter School Institute. AXIS is an existing preschool - 5th grade charter school currently
operating at another location in Fort Collins, and will be moving to the Premises this summer. More information
about AXIS can be found at https://www.axiscolorado.org.
This notice is being given by AXIS, in order to comply with Section (1.5) of C.R.S. § 22-32-124 (the
“Location Statute”). The Location Statute requires, “a charter school shall advise in writing the planning
commission, or governing body if no planning commission exists, which has jurisdiction over the territory in
which the site is proposed to be located.”
A portion of the building on the Property will be occupied by AXIS pursuant to a lease with the owner.
AXIS does not plan to make any improvements or alterations to the Premises, the building, or the Property at this
time. It plans to use the existing drop-off and pick-up traffic circulation plan that was used by the prior school that
operated at the Property.
If and when AXIS makes any alterations, as a Colorado charter public school, AXIS is subject to the same
state school facility laws as other public schools, and as allowed by the Location Statute, will have its plans
reviewed and approved under applicable safety and building codes, and building permits issued by the School
Construction and Inspection program in the Division of Fire Prevention and Control, as part of the Department
of Public Safety (the "Division"), under the Location Statute. AXIS and the Division will coordinate with City
fire and life safety in accordance with the Location Statute; and AXIS will additionally coordinate with City water
or other departments to the extent the same is needed, and the same are not governed by the state permitting
process.
AXIS is looking forward to this new chapter for the school. It desires to be a good neighbor and
