Re: Open excavation, rebar, and concrete encased electrode
observation at observation at the residence at 829 La Porte Ave,
Fort Collins
Dear Sir or Madam:
On June 30 and July 1, 2020, Crown Jade Design and
Engineering personnel under my supervision and in direct contact
with me observed the soil at the bottom of the three feet deep
excavation for the foundation system designed by our firm for the
above project.
This soil consisted of a firm gravelly sand, confirming our
assumption that this soil is capable of supporting a maximum soil
bearing pressure of 2,000 pounds per square foot per the 2018
International Residential Code Table R401.4.1. Accordingly, there
is no need to change the balanced spread footing type foundation
system designed by CJDE.
I also observed the footing widths, reinforcing steel, and
the concrete encased electrode (UFER) placed in the foundation
forms at the subject site. All observed footing widths, foundation
wall reinforcement, and UFER met the specifications for size, type
and installation as per the plans on file at the project site.
Please feel free to contact our office if you have any
questions.
Very truly yours,
