Subject: Modified Framing Around New Basement Egress Windows

Mr. Liesenfeld,
CTL Thompson previously prepared framing plans for the new egress window openings on the east
and west sides of the basement at 315 Parker Street. Those plans are dated August 5, 2020.
During installation of these windows, the framing had to be modified. Specifically, the double
trimmers shown on the plan were revised to a single trimmer, and a 6"x4" continuous steel angle
was installed as the header over the opening. That steel angle header bears on the foundation walls
at either side of the opening. Below the steel header, a double 2x6 wood header was also installed.
Refer to the photo below.
Based on our review of the revised framing and the design loads on these window headers, the
revised headers are sufficient to support the design load. Therefore, the design intent of our original
plans has been met and the change is acceptable.
