As requested I visited the site to determine the feasibility of removing a portion
of a wall at the kitchen.
The existing opening to the kitchen is to be widened to 7'. The second floor is
supported at the wall line.
It is recommended a (2)-1 3/4X9 1/4" LVL flush header be used to span the 7'.
The 2x10 hoists should be hung to the face of the header. The existing double
LVL flush beam should be hung to the header with a Simpson U410 or
approved. Provide a 2-2x4 built up post each end of the header.
